How to Set Up Google Business Profile
This page will guide you through how to set up Google Business Profile for your business & website!
Note that Google Business Profile is an optional service available to businesses that have a physical office location for in-person / hybrid services.
In most cases, telehealth-only businesses without a physical office are not eligible to set up a Google Business Profile.
If you are curious to see if your business would be eligible, feel free to check out Google's article on Business Eligibility and Ownership Guidelines.
1) To get started, please go to this link: Google Business Profile, and click Start Now.
2) Click on Create a Business Profile on Google.
3) Enter your business name, select whichever business category which best describes your services, and click Next.
4) Choose whether you have a location customers can visit.
- For businesses with a storefront staffed during business hours: Click Yes.
- You may be asked to enter your business address or position a marker on a map for the location of your businesses. When finished, click Next.
- For businesses that don't have a storefront staffed during business hours: Click No.
5) Enter the service area of your business
- You can set your service area based on the cities, postal codes, or other areas that you serve. You can add up to 20 service areas.
- Tip: Google recommends that you do not extend the boundaries of your overall area farther than 2 hours driving time from where your business is based. However, they do note that for some businesses, it may be appropriate to have a larger service area.
6) Enter a phone number and your website URL.
7) Click Next, then click Finish.
8) Select a Verification option.
- Tip: Google recommends reviewing your information before you request verification.
- To verify now: At the top, find the red banner and click Verify now.
- To verify later: Click Verify later -> Later.
- If you’re not authorized to manage the Business Profile for the chain: Find the person in your organization who’s authorized and continue the process.
9) If you run into any issues with the verification process, try checking out Step 2 in this Google article that covers the different verification options: Verify your Business on Google
In this article, we have written out Google's instructions for your convenience.
